#what they are

Dental veneers are very thin ceramic restorations, applied to the visible surface of the teeth for aesthetic and functional purposes. Their thickness is comparable to that of a contact lens (between 0.3 and 0.7 mm), which makes them one of the most minimally invasive ways of transforming a smile.
Unlike a dental crown, which covers the whole tooth, a veneer is applied only to the visible front surface, preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible. Dr Radu Podar assesses each case individually before recommending veneers as a solution - the shape of the face, the current shade of the teeth, the proportions of the arch, the gum line and the patient's expectations are all taken into account before a treatment plan is proposed.
Dental veneers are not a “one size fits all” solution, but a personalised one. At D'Alba Dentistry, every case is assessed individually: the shape of the face, the current shade of the teeth, the proportions of the arch, the gum line and the patient's expectations are all taken into account before a treatment plan is proposed.

Dental veneers are recommended when a patient would like a brighter, more harmonious smile, with corrected shape and natural proportions, without resorting to aggressive treatment. They suit a wide range of aesthetic situations, and the results can be striking.
Stained or discoloured teeth that do not respond to whitening
There are situations in which teeth whitening cannot correct the shade, such as teeth discoloured by tetracycline, by fluorosis or by previous root canal treatment. In these cases, ceramic veneers offer a reliable and durable way of achieving the desired shade.
Gaps between teeth (diastemas)
A diastema, the visible gap between the central incisors or between other front teeth, can be corrected elegantly with dental veneers, without orthodontic treatment, depending on the size of the gap and the clinical situation.
Slightly crooked or rotated teeth
Where the dental alignment is slightly uneven, veneers can create the impression of a straight, uniform smile without the need for braces. This option is always discussed with the patient during the consultation, in order to establish whether it is clinically appropriate.
Teeth shortened by wear
Tooth wear (caused by bruxism, acidity or age) can make teeth look short, uneven or “aged”. Veneers restore the original length and shape, giving the smile a younger, more harmonious appearance.
Chipped edges or micro-fractures
A tooth with a chipped edge or a small crack affects the appearance of the whole smile. A veneer covers and corrects these imperfections while also protecting the tooth.
Asymmetries of shape and length
Teeth of differing sizes or shapes, such as lateral teeth that are too small or central incisors with irregular shapes, can be made uniform with veneers, for a balanced and natural result.

#why

The quality of the material a veneer is made from directly determines its final appearance and its durability. At our clinic in Alba Iulia, we work exclusively with premium materials, selected according to the clinical situation and the aesthetic objective of each patient.
Feldspathic ceramic - offers maximum aesthetics
Feldspathic ceramic is the material with the highest translucency available for dental veneers. It mimics the natural appearance of enamel closely, allowing light to pass through the veneer just as it does through a natural tooth. It is the ideal choice for patients who want the most natural result possible and for whom minimal preparation is feasible. It calls for advanced laboratory technique and a dentist experienced in adhesive work.
Lithium disilicate (e.max) - offers the ideal balance
e.max is today one of the most widely used and highly regarded materials for dental veneers worldwide. It offers an excellent balance between aesthetics and mechanical strength, being more resistant than feldspathic ceramic while remaining just as aesthetic and translucent in the hands of a skilled technician. It is the material we recommend in most dental veneer cases at D'Alba Dentistry.
Ultra-translucent zirconia - for particular situations
Ultra-translucent zirconia is a selective option, indicated in specific cases where greater strength is needed or where there are particular clinical constraints. Modern generations of translucent zirconia have moved beyond the “opaque white” reputation associated with classic zirconia and can deliver remarkable aesthetic results.
The material is chosen together with the dentist and the dental technician, after a full analysis of the case, taking into account the shade of the adjacent natural teeth, the occlusal function, the patient's habits and the aesthetic objective agreed upon.
Treatment with dental veneers is a structured, transparent and detail-led process. At our clinic in Alba Iulia, we follow a clear eight-step protocol to make sure the final result matches your expectations closely.
1. Consultation + intraoral scan + photographs
The first appointment is dedicated to understanding your dental situation and your aesthetic wishes in full. We carry out a digital intraoral scan and take professional photographs of your smile from several angles. This information forms the basis of the entire treatment plan.
2. Digital smile design (Smile Design)
Based on the scan and the photographs, our dentist and technician create a digital design of your final smile. You can see on screen how the veneers will look - the shade, the shape, the length, the proportions - before any treatment begins.
3. Presenting the options + approving the design
We do not move forward without your agreement. We present the possible options, discuss expectations and preferences, and you approve the design before the next stage begins.
4. Mock-up - testing the smile before the final treatment
We consider the mock-up an essential step in the process of creating dental veneers. Dr Radu Podar applies the physical simulation directly onto your teeth, which lets you “live” with your new smile before it is made permanent. If something does not feel quite right - the shape, the length, the proportions - we adjust it before moving on.
5. Minimally invasive preparation (when required)
If preparation of the teeth is required, it is carried out at this stage, with minimal preparation of the front surface. Our aim is to conserve as much of the tooth's natural structure as possible.
6. Temporary restoration
While your definitive veneers are being made at our partner laboratory, you will wear aesthetic temporary veneers. You will not spend a single day without a presentable smile.
7. Try-in + final cementation
Before the final cementation, we carry out a final try-in of the ceramic veneers - checking the shade, the shape, the marginal fit and the occlusal comfort. Only once everything has been validated do we proceed to the final placement.
8. Check-up and maintenance advice
A few weeks after cementation, we invite you back for a check-up to assess how the veneers have settled in. We also give you a complete care guide, so that your investment lasts as long as possible.
#why us

Not every dental clinic can deliver the aesthetic results you see in case portfolios, because that difference comes not from the equipment but from the working philosophy.
At D'Alba Dentistry in Alba Iulia, treatment with dental veneers follows a rigorous protocol supervised by Dr Radu Podar, based on transparent communication, modern digital technology and high-quality materials. We use the latest intraoral scanning systems and give each patient genuine time - because a beautiful smile is neither improvised nor rushed.
If you are in Alba Iulia or the surrounding area and would like dental veneers made with precision and care for detail, we invite you to book a consultation at D'Alba Dentistry. The first step is simple - and the result can genuinely change the way you feel each morning when you smile in the mirror.
